Earl Palmer, 1924 - 2008
Premier drummer Earl Palmer, died today. In the video below you can hear him talk a bit about his drumming on the 1953 recording of the Professor Longhair song, "Tipitina." Palmer then performs "Tipitina" with Allen Touissant on piano and Alvin "Red" Tyler on sax.Earl Palmer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
