The Tenth Day of Christmas: "Outwitted"
As we try to pin down a reasonable definition of "victory" in an ambiguous situation of conflict, the poem below by Edwin Markham provides some food for thought.
Outwitted
He drew a circle that shut me out
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout
But love and I had the wit to win
We drew a circle that took him in.
