The 1:16 film below was made in 1898 by G. A. Smith, described in the accompanying note at YouTube as "one of the first British filmmakers to make extensive use of special effects to create fantastical scenes."This clip is one of over a thousand films and TV programs available for free viewing at the British Film Institute National Archive in London and at the QUAD centre for art and film in Derby.
