Services Science, Management and Engineering
For several years now, IBM has been promoting the idea of developing a discipline of services sciences, management and engineering (SSME) which wouldbring together ongoing work in computer science, operations research, industrial engineering, business strategy, management sciences, social and cognitive sciences, and legal sciences to develop the skills required in a services-led economy. You can get an idea of the substance of SSME by browsing through the course modules IBM has posted here.
The goal of this, and any, training in SSME is to help people
- think in a disciplined way about how to optimize delivery of business services
- use suitable tools and processes effectively in arriving at optimized systems and solutions
- Welcome and Introduction to SSME
- What are Services?
- Service Systems (with a case study)
- Considerations for the Management of Services
- Productivity and Innovation - the productivity paradox
- Introduction to Methods
