Technology, Entertainment, Design, aka TED, is a conference that has been held annually in Monterey CA since 1984. The TED website explains:More than a thousand people now attend — indeed, the event sells out a year in advance — and the content has expanded to include science, business, the arts and all the big global issues facing our world. Over four days, 50 speakers each take an 18-minute slot, and there are many shorter pieces of content, including music, performance and comedy. There are no breakout groups. Everyone shares the same experience.Just this month, TED has begun to make available online videos of what the organizers deem the best talks and performances that TED participants have given over the years. The videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted. Here are some examples that might be of particular interest to trainers:
- The Rise of Collaboration e.g. "Richard Baraniuk on open-source learning"
- Presentation Innovation e.g., "David Pogue says 'Simplicity sells'"
- The Creative Spark e.g., "Evelyn Glennie shows how to listen"
- TED Under 30 (speakers younger than 30) e.g., "Jeff Han demos his breakthrough touchscreen"
